The Jinma Biji was built during the Xuande era of the Ming Dynasty and boasts a four-hundred-year-old history to date. It is a famous cultural site and symbol of Kunming.

"One pass is in the east and the other is in the west; if you do not see the Golden Horse (Jinma), then you will see the Jade Rooster (Biji)", the Jinma Square is to the east, and the Biji Gate is to the west.

As a landmark of Kunming, you will not only find shops with local foods special to Kunming, street vendors, and ethnic jewelry stores, but unique cafes and famous tattoo shops too.

If you want some quiet “me-time,” you can arrive early in the morning, walk along the pebble street, wait for the cafes to open, and sit down for a cup of coffee. If you want to experience the hustle and bustle of the city, the night market here is also a good option for local delicacies.
