The hospitality industry is hard anywhere and especially in Kunming. I have been involved with some restaurants since 2000 and it is really hard to find and keep good staff. Workers leaving for gold in Guangzhou or local compeditors stealing your staff doesn't help the owners provide consistent top quality service. Those who complain about service should also consider the price they are paying for that service and not compare it with what you get in Western countries for a lot more money. I find many expats want Chinese prices and five star service. When is the last time you tipped a server? Over the years I have seen great but gradual improvements in Kunming. I hope you who give a hard review also give praise when it is deserved.

Sunday Brunch is no longer listed under events. Is it still being offered?

Been going to the Lost Garden for a while and never walked away disappointed with the food. They make the best pizza in Kunming and possibly all of China. Good sandwiches as well. Can't really say anything negative about the place, except that the kitchen is closed on Mondays. Go there for the food and the atmosphere...and if you are travelling in China, I hear the rooms are quite comfortable as well. Plus, as probably the only establishment in Kunming, they actually have good English speaking service...imagine that!

It still be nice place to stay - I mean rooms and price - YES, but one year later from my first dinner there I must say, that quality and size of pizza and sandwiches is drasticly down. I was very dissapointed already a few times, so it is not occaisional fail - great food is just mo more there.:((

Very nice chilled-out atmosphere. The Sunday Brunch is good value for money and the pizzas are probably the best you'll find in Kunming. I've never had any issues with the service and the owners are super-friendly. Highly recommended!
